Today I received the list of certified candidates from the West Orange Town Clerk, so we know who will appear on the ballot on November 5. I hope you will learn as much as you can about each of the candidates and think about what you want from a Town Councilmember over the next four years.
I am a proactive person and I know that our town has plenty of “deferred maintenance” to address in the next few years. I think we need a very specific plan to address priorities like protecting and repopulating our tree canopy, preparing and planning for impacts of climate change, and creating and improving our safe and secure public spaces to create community. All of these things require planning and prioritizing, something that I think I could help improve upon in our local government.
These are the candidates for our Town Council this year. There are three seats up for reelection, and only two incumbents on the ballot. I was surprised to not see the third appear on the list today. I wish him very well. Voters will be asked to vote for up to three candidates. In alphabetical order, these folks were certified for the ballot:
